Is Intuitive Password reliable and secure?

Yes, very secure. Intuitive Password has all the security your bank does. All communication and information is secured using SSL technology. Your data is always encrypted with a US government approved algorithm when it is saved or transmitted. Your credentials are the keys to decrypt your data, so we never store them on the cloud. It is impossible to access your data without logging in to your account using your credentials, not even us.

What can I do to keep my account secure?

Here are a few things you can do to help keep your account safe:

1) Protect your password. Use a combination of at least 8 letters, numbers and punctuation marks.

2) Avoid including your name or common words, and don't use your Intuitive Password password anywhere else online.

3) Never share your login information (e.g. email address and password).

4) Log out of Intuitive Password when you use a computer, phone or tablet you share with other people.

5) Don't accept friend requests from people you don't know.

6) Never click suspicious links, even if they come from a friend or a company you know.

7) Run antivirus software or apps on computers, phones or tablets you use to log in.

8) Use our extra security features like two-factor authentication, anti-phishing protection and access restrictions.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (as known as two-step authentication) is a security feature that asks you for more than just your username and password when you log in. It requires something you know (your login credential), and something you have (like your phone). You have to provide that second piece of information, whether it’s a code or a temporary password, before the account can be accessed. If the correct information isn’t provided, the account remains locked. So even if hackers know your credentials, they'd be blocked from getting into the account when they're asked for the two-factor authentication. It’s the most important security step you can take to protect your Intuitive Password account.

What happens if I lose my phone (two-factor authentication) and can't login?

If you lose your phone, you can use one of your Backup Codes to verify. If you don't have both the phone and the Backup Codes, you'll need to contact us for identity verification before your two-factor authentication can be removed on your behalf. The verification process may take up to 14 business days to process. So when you create your two-factor authentication, we are strongly recommend that you keep the Backup Codes in a safe place.

Will someone be able to access my protected Password Items without the Master Password?

No, they can't. If a Password Item is protected with your Master Password, only you can unlock it by entering the Master Password. Please remember that do not give your Master Password to anyone.

What's the difference between the Master Password and login credential?

A login credential consists of your Intuitive Password account email address, password and security reminder. If you want to access all your passwords and secret notes stored in Intuitive Password, you will need to verify your login credential before being able to access them. A Master Password is an additional layer of security, it is used to protect your most private data in your Intuitive Password account. For example, you have 10 Password Items stored in your Intuitive Password account, and one of them is your credit card information. You want to give your login credential to a family member who can help you manage your passwords, but you don't want anyone to view your credit card information. In this case, you can simply protect that Password Item by adding a Master Password, so your family member won't be able to view that Password Item until the Master Password has been verified.

Do I need a Master Password to protect every Password Item stored in Intuitive Password?

No, it's not necessary. All your Password Items are already encrypted using your login credential with military-grade encryption algorithms. You may use a Master Password if you want someone else to manage your account, and want to prevent anyone from accessing your most private data in your account. If you are the only person to manage your own Intuitive Password account, you don't need a Master Password.

What happens if I forgot my Master Password?

If you forgot your Master Password, you can simply remove it from your Intuitive Password account. However, all your Password Items that are protected with your Master Password will be permanently deleted from your account, and this action cannot be undone! When you first time creating your Master Password, it is strongly recommended that you should keep your Master Password in a safe place.

If I forgot my Master Password, can Intuitive Password staff unlock passwords for me?

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do for you. The only way you can do is to remove the Master Password from your Intuitive Password account, and all your Password Items that are protected with your Master Password will be permanently deleted from your account.

How many attempts can I try for validating Master Password?

If you have more than 5 invalid attempts, all your protected Password Items will be locked for 24 hours. But you'll still be able to access the Password Items that are not protected with your Master Password.

I've read of "data controllers" and "data processors". What's the difference and which one is Intuitive Password?

To paraphrase the formal text: (a) a Data Controller is the owner of their information and decides how that information should be used; and (b) a Data Processor is a person or entity who processes the personal data of the Data Controller and carries out instructions of the Controller regarding this data. Generally speaking, our customers will be the Controllers of their Content (as the term is defined in our Terms of Service), including any associated personal information they place or generate in our systems, and Intuitive Password will be the Processor on their behalf. In some limited and disclosed instances, such as when we collect data from a customer to create an account, Intuitive Password will be the Controller.

What is "zero-knowledge" provider?

Intuitive Password is a zero-knowledge security provider. The Intuitive Password user is the only person that has full control over the encryption and decryption of their data. With Intuitive Password, encryption and decryption occurs on the user's local device or web browser upon logging into their accounts. Each individual record stored in the user's account is encrypted with a secure 256-bit AES key. The record keys are protected by an additional key, called the Data Encryption Key. The Data Encryption Key is encrypted by a key derived from the user's login credentials. This multi-tiered encryption model provides the most advanced data protection available in the industry.

What changes is Intuitive Password implementing to maintain GDPR compliance?

As a zero knowledge platform, the information stored in our product is fully encrypted and only available to the user. We have made changes to our analytics systems to ensure anonymity for our customers and we have made changes to allow you to control your consent about how any personal data that may be collected about you may be utilized or stored.

Does the GDPR stop a company from storing information outside of the EU?

No, there is nothing in the current GDPR regulation that prevents or suggests this requirement. The GDPR does outline that Data Processors must protect personal data appropriately, regardless of where it is stored. Further, the GDPR does not invalidate or override the EU Model Clauses (which are part of Intuitive Password's GDPR Compliant DPA) or the EU privacy shield framework, which are both valid mechanisms to ensure the legal transfer of personal data into and out of the EU.

Do you offer a data processing agreement?

Yes. Intuitive Password is pleased to offer a revised GDPR compliant Data Processing Agreement (DPA) incorporating: (1) the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (also known as the EU Model Clauses); (2) Intuitive Password's Technical and Organizational Data Security Measures; and (3) a GDPR specific agreement. Intuitive Password uses AES-256 as well as PBKDF2. The AES-256 encryption algorithms are approved by the US Government for protecting top secret data. AES-256 is implemented on the both client-side and server-side for all Intuitive Password services. This is important because your sensitive data is always encrypted on your web browser before being sent to the Intuitive Password servers. Your password is never stored anywhere on our servers in any form. No one at Intuitive Password can decrypt your data without you giving up your password, and we will never ask you for it.

Why does my browser indicate that Intuitive Password has an invalid SSL certificate?

Most certificate warnings are caused because your PC's clock is not set correctly. Verify that your clock is set to the correct day, month, and year and retry. If you still experience the issue, then your PC may have had its default list of certificates modified in some manner. Many employers change the standard certificate settings to allow them to have greater control over what sites employees visit and in some instances to allow them to monitor all HTTPS traffic. Please check with your network administrator to determine if this is the case. If you are using Windows XP be sure you update to Service Pack 3, it contains the ability to utilize SHA-256 certificates.

IP addresses are also used to detect if you're logging into your account from a new location, so that we can prompt you to verify the new location before granting access to your account. Intuitive Password uses third party geolocation databases to identify the country of origin for IP addresses. However, accuracy for geolocation tools may vary for a variety of reasons. Accuracy rates on determining the country are reported as 95%-99% accurate, it also depends on your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the data they make available for the public IP address. Unfortunately Intuitive Password cannot control what the third party database detects as the location for a given IP address.

My credit card was declined on your payments page or my account upgrade failed. Why?

Declines can happen for a variety of reasons. When we submit a charge to your bank, they have automated systems that determine whether or not to accept the charge. These systems take various signals into account, such as your spending habits, account balance, and card information like the expiration date and CVC. Since these signals are constantly changing, a previously successful card might be declined in the future. Even if all of the card information is correct, and you previously had a successful payment, a future charge can still be declined by a bank's overzealous fraud systems.

We show as much information as we receive from your bank about a decline. Unfortunately most declines are generic, so we don't have much information as to why a charge was specifically declined. If all of the card information seems correct, it is best to contact your bank, inquire for more information, and ask for future charges to be accepted.

If payment was made via Paypal, it will only notify us of a failed payment, we never receive detailed information. Its best to search Paypal's support page for your specific payment issue, or contact them for more information.

What would happen if I have cancelled my premium account?

After you have cancelled your premium account, you will be automatically switched to the Basic edition. So you will still be able to access and maintain your data with limited features.

PayPal has a similar post on their community here.

I have a charge on my credit card for your product, but I don't use it. How can I get my money back?
